The Gospel of Mark, chapter 12:33
When one of the Scribes asked Jesus: “which is the greatest of all the commandments?” he was not expecting the answer he got. For the scribe, there were thousands of commandments, both negative and positive, in the Old Testament. For Jesus, there was only one commandment, and that was-love. In answering the Scribe’s question, Jesus combines into one the two commandments about love in the Old Testament: love of God and love of neighbor. The Scribe was so amazed at Jesus’ answer that he acknowledged the primacy of love over all other ritual offerings and sacrifices.
Christ’s message of love frees us from the bondage of rules and regulations. It enables us to love one another because Christ, the son of God, became man to show us how to love.
Always remember, that whatever you do, do it in the spirit of love.
