Merry Christmas! Have you ever wondered what the word Christmas means?
It’s a combination of two words: Christ and the Mass. What happened in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago is not something that only happened in the past because Christ can come into your life anytime. He can come into your life when you receive Him in the Eucharist and when you follow His example. Christmas is a living experience. Jesus wants to come into our lives and the way that happens is by doing the things that He taught us. He gave us a new Commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you.” Whenever we treat other people with compassion, with kindness, with patience, with love, we see Christ in each other. Wherever you go, and wherever you are, you can do this.
Christ has the power to elevate our thoughts, our words and our deeds if we only follow His example of loving one another they way He loved us. This is the meaning of Christmas. May we have the kind of Christmas that we will be able to see Christ in everyone we come in contact with and by the way we treat one another. Christmas is every day and for everyone.Have a Merry Christmas.

I agree that Jesus wants to come into our lives and the way that happens is by doing the things that He taught us. The #1 thing he taught us was that actions speak louder than words. His act of sacrifice for my sin shouts above the noise of this world that He loves me & wants to forgive me, if I will accept his sacrifice. His gift!
Belief (leading to action) is how I allow Him into my life!

Thanks for all your comments here ( I got lots in my email also ) on the Christmas message which is so necessary now during COVID-19. It’s so important to see Christmas as a living experience, something that raises us up in the here and now, and propels us to action. Your comments are very heartwarming, and make my Christmas merry.
Merry Christmas.

Thank you Father Duffy for this wonderful message. It is so easy for us to forget that as Christians, we are to live as Christ did. We are not only followers of Him but we are to be imitaters of Him. What a beautiful illustration of this in the story you shared.
May the Lord bless and keep you this Christmas.
